Page

At work, they got me logging into Yahoo! Mail, and I was seriously annoyed by it. I’ve been a diehard Google-fan for a long time (I still remember the day when I had to beg my friends for a Gmail invite…desperate times), and I’ve always loved how Google just seemed less annoying and pushy than Yahoo! and MSN.

[Pre-August 2009: Fairly annoying…has a LOT going on, but doesn’t say much.]

But then Yahoo! changed up its style a bit and I’ve gotta say that I’m falling for it. I’m not saying that Yahoo! or the Yahoo! bundle (Yahoo! Music, Yahoo! Maps, Yahoo! Tell Me What to Do with My Life) is going to replace Google to meet my daily web needs, but I am saying is that the geniuses at Yahoo! made their home page much less annoying, and actually friendly.

[Post-August 2009: They got rid of a lot of garbage, chose ‘softer’ fonts, made it look more like the page was designed by professional web developers rather than a page made by 8th graders using Microsoft Frontpage for their graduation project.]

Don’t get me wrong, Google is still more solid than Yahoo! in almost every way (G’s has an amazing development team that creates amazing application suites, searches are usually of higher quality, and is less pushy with advertisements), but credit needs to be given where credit’s due. The new design actually got me to spend some time browsing around Yahoo!’s different sections (I did it on my work break, guys). So guys at Yahoo!, keep it up.

*All images and research for this article have been done through Google.

YES!! I’m seeing a Conan O’Brien taping this...

YES!! I’m seeing a Conan O’Brien taping this Wednesday, and here’s one of his better, recent clips.

The Best Things in Life Come in Threes

…but poorly edited videos from JohnChoi.org also do too.

Gotta Get: Chocolate Dipped Cone & The Banana Split
Gotta Try: Their burgers and fries (untested in the review)
FREAKING AVOID: The Fudge Sundae (I’ll explain later)
10-word: Small, but good selection of specialty ice cream treats. Nice!
Price: $2.oo for a chocolate dipped cone, about $10 for a meal and treats.
Taste: /[5 Thumbs Up]

[The actual place is about the size of a living room and they have an ATM outside, but…]

[…they have managed to put a drive-thru in the back.]

I love living in the valley, but during the summers it does get unbearably hot. I mean, I actually like the heat, but I’ve got my limits too. Sometimes it gets so hot that the best thing to do is nap on the floor until the sun goes down. But besides that, there’s always the option of heading outside and getting some ice cream to cool down…that’s where Frosty Queen can come in.

[Here’s the best of the best of their menu.]

For this review, we tried out the chocolate dipped cone, strawberry shortcake, banana split, and the super-sundae. Tim Lee tried out the chocolate dipped cone is as awesome as chocolate and ice cream can be. Someone with Einstein level-intelligence must’ve been responsible for chocolate dipped cones. By far the best cost-to-awesome ratio at this place.

[The chocolate dipped cone…totally blows away McDonald’s.]

And the Strawberry Shortcake and Banana Split are freaking HUGE. Michelle Kim tried out the strawberry shortcake, and it’s a layer of really fluffy cake with close to a pound of soft-serve ice cream on top. The creme de la ice cream though, is the banana split. It’s got three scoops of ice cream, nestled between a split banana, but it’s also got strawberry, pinapple, and chocolate glazes individual over each and every scoop. It might cost $5.oo, but it’s worth every penny.

[This tastes 10 times better than it looks; it’s that good.]

As for what I got, a big melty cup of regret. I got the “Super Sundae”, but what I really ordered was the “Super…I’mma Need More Napkins”. The Super Sundae’s good, but it’s just way too difficult to eat. The whipped cream on top melted way too fast, and just started dripping all over the table. To make matters worse, the entire sundae is top-heavy so with each spoonful, you risk toppling it over. Probably the biggest regret of my life.

On the upside, they do sell a “Cup of Nuts”, and that seriously made up for everything. I mean, c’mon… How can you see Cup of Nuts and not giggle for a couple of minutes and be forced to order it?

So folks, the next food review’s gonna be this one ice cream wholesaler in the valley. They got prices so low…you’ll be like, “Yeah, those prices are pretty low.”

If they actually sold this bag, it just might stimulate the...

If they actually sold this bag, it just might stimulate the economy out of the recession. It’s one of those weird, counter-intuitive economic principles like trickle-down economics; lowering overall taxes to increase overall government revenue from taxes? Brilliant.

Ups and Downs of Technology

With any advance in technology, there come positive and negative consequences. With the Bronze Age, advances in farming became balanced with advanced weaponry; in the Industrial Era, the advances in mass production became balanced with the possibility of an industrialized war; and in the Atomic Age, the potential for renewable enegy became balanced with the ability to obliterate life from the planet several times over. Even if we discover a cure for cancer, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone finds a way to weaponize it.

The following two videos epitomize the potential pros and cons of living in the Internet/Computer Era.

A robot that’s programed to make me coffee? Hooray for...

A robot that’s programed to make me coffee? Hooray for technology!!

Video of a kid freaking out ‘cuz his mom deleted his World...

Video of a kid freaking out ‘cuz his mom deleted his World of Warcraft account.

Oh for the love of God, I hope this is fake.
Clues to its fakeness:

Perfect Camera Placement

The Kid Takes His Clothes Off in Anger

Stabs Himself in the Butt with a Remote Control Out of Anger or Consolement

But then again, I did the same thing when tickets to the Jonas Brothers’ concert sold out. They’re so talented.

Interesting Lunch; Lesson - Life's Pretty Sweet

So I was eating a sandwich by the beach today, and it was pretty sweet. Well, pretty sweet until a big black guy in a beanie and speedo walked down the steps and started dipping his toes in the water. Oh yeah, and this guy was about 20 feet away from me, and there was no one else on this stretch of beach for 100 yards in any direction. He didn’t even make a sound, and I’m not sure if it would’ve been better or worse if he said anything to me.

I finished my sandwich and got to my car and started laughing like crazy, and couldn’t wait to tell someone about it. And then I realized, life’s pretty sweet. I got to eat a pretty sweet sandwich, got to take a lunch break at the beach, and saw a scene so awkward that I still can’t believe what I saw.

HOPEFULLY [!!!], I’ll be in a graduate program by Fall...

HOPEFULLY [!!!], I’ll be in a graduate program by Fall 2009, but I’m highly considering enrolling in a couple of classes during the summer to get me back into shape again.

Pierce Anyone?

I’ve been feeling a little flabby in the brain these days.
Anyone enrolling in Pierce for Summer A or Summer B sessions?
I’m considering these classes right now…
