I'm Falling for the New Yahoo! Page
At work, they got me logging into Yahoo! Mail, and I was seriously annoyed by it. I’ve been a diehard Google-fan for a long time (I still remember the day when I had to beg my friends for a Gmail invite…desperate times), and I’ve always loved how Google just seemed less annoying and pushy than Yahoo! and MSN.

[Pre-August 2009: Fairly annoying…has a LOT going on, but doesn’t say much.]
But then Yahoo! changed up its style a bit and I’ve gotta say that I’m falling for it. I’m not saying that Yahoo! or the Yahoo! bundle (Yahoo! Music, Yahoo! Maps, Yahoo! Tell Me What to Do with My Life) is going to replace Google to meet my daily web needs, but I am saying is that the geniuses at Yahoo! made their home page much less annoying, and actually friendly.

[Post-August 2009: They got rid of a lot of garbage, chose ‘softer’ fonts, made it look more like the page was designed by professional web developers rather than a page made by 8th graders using Microsoft Frontpage for their graduation project.]
Don’t get me wrong, Google is still more solid than Yahoo! in almost every way (G’s has an amazing development team that creates amazing application suites, searches are usually of higher quality, and is less pushy with advertisements), but credit needs to be given where credit’s due. The new design actually got me to spend some time browsing around Yahoo!’s different sections (I did it on my work break, guys). So guys at Yahoo!, keep it up.
