Prodigal Food Review - Frosty Queen

Frosty Queen
17603 Chatsworth Street
Granada Hills, CA 91344
Frosty Queen’s Yelp Review

[Corner of Chatsworth and Shoshone]

Gotta Get: Chocolate Dipped Cone & The Banana Split
Gotta Try:
Their burgers and fries (untested in the review)
FREAKING AVOID: The Fudge Sundae (I’ll explain later)
10-word:
Small, but good selection of specialty ice cream treats.  Nice!
Price: $2.oo for a chocolate dipped cone, about $10 for a meal and treats.
Taste: /[5 Thumbs Up]

[The actual place is about the size of a living room and they have an ATM outside, but…]

[…they have managed to put a drive-thru in the back.]

I love living in the valley, but during the summers it does get unbearably hot.  I mean, I actually like the heat, but I’ve got my limits too.  Sometimes it gets so hot that the best thing to do is nap on the floor until the sun goes down.  But besides that, there’s always the option of heading outside and getting some ice cream to cool down…that’s where Frosty Queen can come in.

[Here’s the best of the best of their menu.]

For this review, we tried out the chocolate dipped cone, strawberry shortcake, banana split, and the super-sundae.  Tim Lee tried out the chocolate dipped cone is as awesome as chocolate and ice cream can be.  Someone with Einstein level-intelligence must’ve been responsible for chocolate dipped cones. By far the best cost-to-awesome ratio at this place.

[The chocolate dipped cone…totally blows away McDonald’s.]

And the Strawberry Shortcake and Banana Split are freaking HUGE.  Michelle Kim tried out the strawberry shortcake, and it’s a layer of really fluffy cake with close to a pound of soft-serve ice cream on top.  The creme de la ice cream though, is the banana split.  It’s got three scoops of ice cream, nestled between a split banana, but it’s also got strawberry, pinapple, and chocolate glazes individual over each and every scoop.  It might cost $5.oo, but it’s worth every penny.

[This tastes 10 times better than it looks; it’s that good.]

As for what I got, a big melty cup of regret.  I got the “Super Sundae”, but what I really ordered was the “Super…I’mma Need More Napkins”.  The Super Sundae’s good, but it’s just way too difficult to eat.  The whipped cream on top melted way too fast, and just started dripping all over the table.  To make matters worse, the entire sundae is top-heavy so with each spoonful, you risk toppling it over.  Probably the biggest regret of my life.

On the upside, they do sell a “Cup of Nuts”, and that seriously made up for everything.  I mean, c’mon…  How can you see Cup of Nuts and not giggle for a couple of minutes and be forced to order it?

[You can call it immature if you want, but c’mon!!  Cup of nuts!]

So folks, the next food review’s gonna be this one ice cream wholesaler in the valley.  They got prices so low…you’ll be like, “Yeah, those prices are pretty low.”
